Dallas prostitute convicted of felonies in OKC has warrant issued. Posts pics/video at gun range.

6/10/2012 – OKC, OK — A young woman who was featured previously on JohnTV and the local news is once again wanted by the law and social media may be her undoing.

Deven O., 25, was first featured on JohnTV almost a year ago when she was listed as one of 52 individuals arrested in Oklahoma City as part of the FBI’s ‘Operation Cross Country.’ - a nationwide sweep to target primarily child sex traffickers, but also pimps, Johns and prostitutes.

Deven was featured again on JohnTV in Sept. of last year after her pimp, Dathon Todd Pickard, 30, pleaded guilty to a laundry list of crimes and was given the equivalent of a get out of jail free card by Oklahoma County prosecutors.

Despite being a despicable pimp and thief, Pickard was only sentenced to two years deferred and a teeny-tiny fine.

Deven, as seen on social media.

Deven was most recently featured on JohnTV when FOX25′s Phil Cross took a closer look at her arrest and questioned whether or not an Oklahoma City Vice Lieutenant crossed the line when making a case against her – specifically calling in to question the fact both Deven and the officer got undressed and the officer allowed Deven to touch his genitals at least twice before identifying himself.

Since those reports, Deven pleaded guilty last Oct. to felony computer crimes, offering to engage in prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deven was sentenced to five years suspended (supervised), 100-days in jail, $50 fine, $105 VCA, $150 DNA fees, $55 DA fee and all court costs.

Deven allegedly returned to Texas and dropped off the JohnTV radar.

However, in Feb. of this year an application to revoke Deven’s suspended sentence was filed and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Often a revocation can be over a matter as simple as the defendant neglecting to check-in with supervising authorities. Or, it can be as serious as continuing criminal activity. No details were immediately available regarding why prosecutors want Deven’s sentence revoked.

But here is what we do know, this baby-faced 25-year old has amassed a head-shaking number of mugshots going back to when she was only 19 (could be more, but those would not be public).

Deven has amassed more mugshots in a few short years than most hardened criminals.

Deven has amassed more mugshots in a few short years than most hardened criminals.

Since Deven’s Oklahoma conviction she posed for at least two more mugshots for probation violation arrests in Oct. of 2012 and April of this year in McKinney and Dallas, Texas.

Deven has been wanted since Feb. but that doesn’t mean she’s ‘on the run’ or even hard to find.

You see, like so many millions of us, Deven has a social media presence that she updates regularly.

Deven’s most recent post was on Friday and read in part, “There’s nothing better then the feeling of shame in the morning…”

The rest of her posts are pretty mundane and typical of someone her age. That is until you check out her May 18 post.

It seems this convicted felon likes to spend time at the gun range and then post it publicly (Not a good idea. Ever heard the motto ‘if you’re a felon and you’re pack’n, you’re going back in!’).

The one-minute and 22 second video apparently shows Deven with a semi-automatic pistol, firing several rounds at a paper target.

If you’re wondering what happened to Deven’s pimp Pickard – he was apparently arrested and booked into the Denton County Sheriff’s Office on a theft complaint in Jan. of this year. An arrest that could/should also result in the revocation of his two Oklahoma deferred sentences for felony concealing stolen property, making a false declaration of ownership to a pawn broker, aiding and abetting prostitution and maintaining a house of prostitution.

You’ll notice Pickard is apparently still trying to figure out the look that works best for him… He’s gone from ‘Opie’ to ‘Pee-Wee’ to now ‘Ellen.’ Personally, I think Dathon’s soon-to-be cellmates will prefer the more passive (but upbeat) Pee-Wee look!

JohnTV will continue to follow this story and provide updates as necessary.

Biker magazine cover model charged in OK with being a madam

6/11/2013 – OKC, OK — (Updated 6/20/2013) A former biker magazine cover model has been charged in Oklahoma County with felony crimes related to allegations she was a madam of sorts at a local massage parlor.

JohnTV first reported on the arrest of Shannon Marie Johnson, 29, (see photo left) back in Jan. of 2012.

According to police, undercover officers responded to an ad on Backpage.com in the ‘body rubs’ section for Massive Massage massage parlor, located at 2633 SW 59 suite 8 in Oklahoma City.

Details are few, but it appears an undercover officer was solicited by a woman identified as Tia during a massage.

Johnson appeared on the June 2012 Thunder Roads Magazine cover.

Johnson appeared on the June 2012 Thunder Roads Magazine cover.

Police then arrested Johnson (a mother of two) after she described herself as ‘running the business’ in so much as she did the hiring, scheduling and opened and closed the business on a regular basis.

Also arrested was Keith Owen Marrero, who also indicated he had a management role with the business.

For whatever reason, prosecutors waited almost 16-months before officially charging Johnson or Marrerro with a crime.

In April both were charged with felony computer crimes and maintaining a house of prostitution and released on a $7,000 bond.

Both Johnson and Marrero are set to return to court July 8 at 9:00 a.m.

As for Massive Massage, it appears they recently had a not so successful NewsOK Deal  - $35 for a one hour massage – that sold exactly….. zero, nada, nothing, not a one!

Maybe Massive Massage and NewsOK should capitalize on their former celebrity reporter Zeke Campfield and have him endorse the deal and relaunch it.

Question: If NewsOK Deals (the Oklahoman) partners with a house of prostitution, then promotes that house of prostitution on the Internet and then collects some of the money paid to the house of prostitution….. does that make the Oklahoman a pimp?

Regardless, the best part of the NewsOK Deal was in the fine print…. “May upgrade to additional services for an additional fee” (like, um, hand jobs $40, blow jobs $50, full service $100).

Massive Massage though probably did much better when they advertised the same deal on a website with a more appropriate name… SpreadSave (seriously, you can’t make this up).

JohnTV will continue to follow this case.

UPDATE: Local blog TheLostOgle recently posted an article and referenced this article on Johnson. TLO is hoping to have Johnston nominated as “Best Business Owner.” Sure, sure, its all tongue-in-cheek – but, there is no allegation of human trafficking, forced prostitution or child prostitution in her case….. so….. we say go for it and nominate away!

6/11/2013 – Edmond, OK — A man police say prostituted a teenager that has direct ties to a disgraced former reporter with the Oklahoman has been officially charged with felony human trafficking.

JohnTV was the first to break the story of the arrest of 21-year old Joshua Hudson. Hudson was taken into custody at an Edmond hotel where he was allegedly prostituting a pregnant 16-year-old runaway.

The arrest occurred May 9 at the Broadway Suites at around 9:30 p.m.

According to the probable cause affidavit, undercover Oklahoma City Vice officers were following up on a report of a pregnant 16-year old female who appeared in advertisements for sex on Backpage.com.

After corresponding via text message, the undercover officer setup a meeting with the teen at a hotel.

Agents with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (Human Trafficking Division) joined in the investigation.

The undercover officer met-up with the teen victim and gave her the $140 she requested for vaginal and oral sex. The teen was then taken into protective custody.

According to police, just prior to the undercover officers arrival at the hotel, officers sent to observe the area noticed two white males leave the hotel room where the teen was being prostituted.

After securing the teen, officers approached the two accomplices.

One of the men was identified as Hudson. The other male was not identified in court documents because he was a minor.

Hudson reportedly had $434 in cash on him.

After being arrested and mirandized, Hudson told police he posted the ads of the teen on the Internet, suggested what price she should charge and collected money paid to her for sex.

Hudson also had a credit card on him that was used to purchase Internet escort ads.

On May 20 Hudson was formally charged in Oklahoma County with felony human trafficking.

Hudson is currently being held on $50,000 bond.

Hudson is scheduled to appear again in court on June 20, at 9 a.m.

It was recently uncovered by bloggers with local blog TheLostOgle that the FBI and local law enforcement had linked a reporter with the Oklahoman as a ‘John’ who had previously paid to have sex with the teen in this article.

Zeke Campfield was until last week a trusted reporter with Oklahoma’s largest newspaper, the Oklahoman.

Campfield first made headlines after he allegedly was seen taking photos up the skirt of high school students at a graduation ceremony.

According to court documents, Campfield allegedly paid the pregnant teen $220 for sex at his residence.

Campfield has not yet been charged with any crime related to prostitution.

6/11/2013 – OKC, OK — An Oklahoma City woman accused of aiding and abetting prostitution pleaded guilty and was given a slap on the wrist by prosecutors.

JohnTV first reported on the arrest of Michelle McCord, 22, when she was caught up in the June 2012 FBI initiative to target primarily child sex traffickers. Dubbed ‘Operation Cross Country’, locally 52 individuals were arrested.

McCord was featured again on JohnTV after she was formally charged with misdemeanor aiding and abetting prostitution.

According to court documents, in the early morning hours of June 21, 2012 undercover officers called a phone number attributed to an advertisement for sex that appeared on the website Backpage.com.

Officers arranged to meet up with the suspected prostitute at a Best Western in south Oklahoma City near I-240 and S. Western Ave.

Some time later a vehicle occupied by McCord and another woman, later identified as Janet G., pulled into the hotel parking lot.

Janet G. reportedly exited the vehicle and met with an undercover officer and offered herself and/or McCord for sex in exchange for money.

Both Janet and McCord were placed under arrest.

On March 18 McCord pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years deferred (supervised), 40 hours of community service, $50 fine, $50 VCA and all court costs.

Texas hookers beware; A jury says ‘Johns’ can kill you

6/11/2013 – San Antonio, Texas — Apparently in Texas if you give a woman money and she won’t have sex with you then you can gun her down in cold blood.

Ezekiel Gilbert, 30, has to be the most spineless P.O.S. ‘John’ we have reported on in recent memory on JohnTV.

According to published reports, on Christmas Eve 2009, Gilbert decided to contact a woman advertising on Craigslist.com and arranged for her to come to his residence.

The online escort, Lenora Ivie Frago, 23, showed up and promptly requested $150 from Gilbert.

Gilbert was under the impression that his $150 was going to get him sex – which would make their transaction prostitution, which would make him involved in a criminal act.

Escorting though does not necessarily always involve sexual intercourse and when it doesn’t its considered a legal profession.

So, when Frago apparently tried to keep her business legal and refused to have sex with Gilbert he was none-too-pleased.

Lenora Ivie Frago gunned down by Gilbert.

Lenora Ivie Frago gunned down by Gilbert.

So outraged was Gilbert, that when Frago got into her pimp/boyfriend Christopher Perkins’ car and tried to leave Gilbert produced an AK-47 and shot Frago four times, striking her in the neck.

Frago was paralyzed and brain damaged from the shooting and died just seven-months later.

Gilbert was promptly charged with murder.

Despite Gilbert never mentioning theft when interviewed by detectives, at trial Gilbert’s defense attorneys argued that Texas law allowed Gilbert to kill Frago.

According to the law, a Texas citizen has the right to kill anyone they please if they simply argue that they were attempting to recover property during a nighttime theft.

Yep folks, if you paid good money hoping to get lucky and the woman doesn’t put out, you can gun her down like a dog in the street….. Yeehaw.

Okay, we are not totally clueless to reality here at JohnTV.

Obviously when a woman advertises herself on Craigslist.com and shows up at your house and promises you a good time – its universally understood that you’re going to get sex for your money.

Its also universally understood that when said ‘good time’ doesn’t happen you feel like a horny idiot that just got scammed and you want justice.

But no ‘man’ produces a gun over $150 when they know good and well they themselves are a piece of shit womanizer who is probably just getting a taste of their own medicine.

So, what do you do? You cuss her out and let it go as a lesson learned in most cases.

If you really believe you are a victim of theft then by all means call the police.

Which brings up an interesting perspective. Exactly what would the police do if you called them about an alleged hooker doing a ‘cash and dash’ on you?

In most cases they simply ignore you or arrest you for soliciting prostitution. What they don’t do is sentence the alleged thief to death, like Gilbert did.

JohnTV wasn’t at the trial, so we don’t know all the details, but nowhere did we find any account where Frago expressly promised Gilbert sex or used a weapon, force or fear to try and leave with Gilbert’s money. Gilbert was simply incensed that how dare this woman lead him on, take his money and not get on her knees for him.

Let alone did it ever enter Gilbert’s mind that often women in prostitution are simply doing what they are told by their pimp.

This is yet another blatant example of how little we as a society value the life of anyone labeled a prostitute – shame on Gilbert and shame on jurors who did not see through the letter of the law to the intent of the law.

Suspects in Love County human trafficking case make court appearance

6/17/2013 – Love County, OK — (as reported at kxii.com) Four suspects allegedly involved in human trafficking appeared in Love County court Tuesday .

Raquel Jones, Paige Gardner, Amy Cliett and Nicholas Ford had a status hearing in a case where the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics made 18 arrests.

Oklahoma Bureau of narcotics officers said they don’t usually investigate prostitution, but spokesman Mark Woodward said this case is different.

“In this case we did have information that it was possible some of these were minors,” said Woodward. “And those who are minors involved in prostitution are automatically classified as human trafficking.”

It turned out two of those involved were girls under 18. And during the course of the undercover investigation officers arrested 14 other people involved in the crime.

Jason May is the defense attorney for those four suspects that appeared Tuesday. Charges for all the suspects include pandering, solicitation of prostitution and using a computer to violate Oklahoma statutes.

May says he doesn’t think the judge will let the case will go very far.

“I believe that based on what I’ve seen so far that it’s unlikely that he will determine that there is sufficient evidence to go forward with the charges,” said May.

But Woodward said this is a case of victims being held against their will.

“And being trafficked all over the country by handlers for profit, so it’s a growing epidemic human trafficking,” Woodward said.

The next court date for the four suspects will be August 6th for a preliminary hearing.

‘Operation Flaming Dragon’ has Oklahoma ties

6/20/2013 – Texas — Texas law enforcement closed the noose on ‘Operation Flaming Dragon’ this week and claim the large scale prostitution network had direct ties to Oklahoma City.

The two-year investigation, involving local, state and federal authorities, centered around businesses in Plano, Dallas and Hurst that prosecutors say were nothing more than fronts for prostitution.

This past Monday, more than 240 agents from multiple agencies executed 14 state and federal warrants in North Texas that resulted in 20 arrests.

In all, nine storefronts were shut down and one private residence in Dallas/Plano was raided.

Child Protective Services reports it removed three children from the Plano house, including a 6 month old boy, and two girls ages five and 15.

Additionally, prosecutors seized $300,000, nine cars including a Mercedes, BMW, and two Lexuses, and the house.

Most of the store fronts posed as massage parlors, but authorities allege they were nothing more than thinly veiled brothels.

U.S. Attorney Malcolm Bales said at a news conference Wednesday that a federal grand jury has returned a seven-count indictment against 11 people, eight of whom are in custody. Twelve others taken into custody face state charges in Plano and Dallas.

The indictment alleges that in addition to the storefronts, the ring operated Internet-based prostitution services, using apartments and homes rented in Dallas and The Colony as well as in St. Louis and Oklahoma City.

No exact dollar amount has been released by authorities, but it is believed the prostitution ring brought in millions of dollars in the last couple of years.

Prostitutes were allegedly transported among the North Texas locations as well as from California, Nevada and Georgia, authorities say. They typically stayed for three to four weeks, longer if “successful working for the business enterprise,” according to the indictment.

Investigators have determined that most of the women involved in the prostitution network came from China or other Asian countries.

Prosecutors have not found any evidence of human trafficking, forced servitude or children being involved.

Additionally, investigators believe everyone identified so far are in this country legally.

Authorities believe they have identified the ring leader as Quyen Thuc Ha, aka Tony Ha, 53, who owned and operated the nine raided massage parlors.

A detective working at the direction of investigators pretended to offer ‘protection’ to Ha in exchange for $305,000 in bribery payments starting in 2011.

Another alleged ringleader is a female that is believed to be in China or Hong Kong.

Listed in the federal indictment in addition to Ha were Yu Lin Chang, also known as Rica and Jennifer, 37, of Plano; Kim Sey Lau, also known as John Wang and Tony, 56, of Dallas; Lai Iong Chiu, also known as Mindy, Winnie, Wendy and Li Yan Zhou, 46, of Plano; Xia Xu, also known as Coco, 46, of Dallas; Yu Qian, also known as Maggie, 45, of Flower Mound; Li Meng Shank, 42, of Plano; Prapatson Verhotz, 46, of Garland; Tin Min Lo, also known as Gordon, 51, of Coppell, Michael Gene Jones, 64, of Georgetown; and Jia-Her Hwang, also known as Jack, 65, of Richardson.

They face charges of conspiracy and the use of interstate facility for organized prostitution. Ha also faces charges of bribery.

Officials say Chiu, Xu and Prapatson are not in custody.

Arrested by Plano police on suspicion of conducting massage therapy without a license were Yubing Li, 50; Hui Li, 44; Jing Liu, 53; and Jihong Liu, 41. Plano police also arrested Yafen Wang, 47, and LeQin Huang, 40, on suspicion of prostitution.

Dallas police arrested Pang Hsiang Lin, 51, and Yu Tao Chen, 52, at the Alpha Road spa in Dallas. Yuanli Zhang, 45, was arrested at the Rosemeade Parkway spa in Dallas, and Chinli Yeh, 57, was arrested at a home in the 13300 block of Kit Lane in Dallas, according to documents. The four face charges of engaging in the organized criminal activity of prostitution.

New Video: ‘John’ confronted in motel lobby

6/21/2013 – OKC, OK — JohnTV’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates confronts a would-be ‘John’ in the lobby of a south Oklahoma City motel where the man appeared to be trying to rent a room for himself and a young female he picked up prostituting on S. Robinson Ave.

In a first for JohnTV, Bates caught the entire incident on his iPhone because he didn’t have his traditional video camera on him.

The video was shot earlier this month and starts around SW 34 and S. Robinson Ave. after a man driving a mini van stops to pick up a young woman who is prostituting in the area.

The driver, who appears to be a house painter by trade, tries twice unsuccessfully to rent a motel room at the Catalina and then the Dream House motels in the 4700 block of S. Shields Blvd.

The driver then continues further south on Shields to the Swank motel.

Fearing the Swank’s reputation of renting to anyone with a handful of cash, Bates confronts the would-be John in the lobby.

The man appears stunned and flees the motel. But its too late, as the young woman in his van fled herself when she saw Bates and his camera.

6/25/2013 – OKC, OK — An Oklahoma City man was arrested last week after he contacted what he thought was a 15-year-old female and arranged to have sex with her.

In reality, 38-year-old Mark D. Owens had communicated online with an undercover officer with the Sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit.

According to law enforcement, Owens reached out to the bogus teen online profile and when officers replied, Owens allegedly aggressively pursued what he thought was a teen girl for sex.

Owens was taken into custody around noon last Wednesday at a convenience store located near Mustang Rd. and Reno Ave. in Oklahoma City (map).

At the time of his arrest, Owens thought he was going to meet his young victim for sex.

Owens reportedly told officers he was stupid and should have known better.

Prosecutors allege that Owens sent multiple texts detailing what sexual acts he wanted to perform with the underage girl.

Owens was booked into the Canadian County Jail with complaints of facilitating, encouraging, offering or soliciting sexual conduct with a minor; felony possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Owens bond has been set at $55,500.00

6/27/2013 – OKC, OK — A man who fatally ran over an Oklahoma City woman and then fled the scene had his final day in court yesterday and was sentenced to prison.

As previously reported by JohnTV, Salvador Lopez, 30, was arrested in Aug. of last year after he left a local bar and then struck and killed Rusti Bates, 27, the mother of three. (no relation to JohnTV’s Brian Bates)

According to court documents, Bates was in the area of SE 29th and Lee (map) when she crossed the street and was killed.

Bates was known to prostitute along South Robinson Ave. and was reportedly fighting with her pimp/boyfriend when she was killed.

Lopez, who had been drinking, fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle a few blocks away.

It was disclosed in court that Lopez went to his boss’s home and hid there.

His boss’s wife overheard Lopez saying he thought he killed someone and was planning to flee to Mexico. The wife then called police.

Lopez is illegal and has no driver’s license or insurance. Lopez is married and has three children – all of which are legal US citizens.

Salvador Lopez, 30, was arrested for Bates' death.

Salvador Lopez, 30, was arrested for Bates’ death.

Lopez was formally charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving without a license, unlawful transportation of an open container and no auto insurance.

The state asked that Lopez be sentenced to five-years in prison and five-years of probation and forbidden to return to the US.

Lopez’s defense lawyer argued that Lopez should only receive time-served (9-months) and be given probation.

If Lopez would have been arrested at the scene and found to be legally intoxicated, he would have been charged with manslaughter and faced far more time in prison.

Bates’ family were present at the sentencing and had a prepared statement read in open court.

The statement detailed Bates’ life and her death and the fact No Boundaries Int’l came forward to make sure Bates was given a proper funeral.

A photo of Bates was also shown in open court. Judge Deason took the time to acknowledge the photo and expressed frustration when he said to the Bates’ family, “I know you want justice, but justice is elusive.”

In the end Judge Deason sentenced Lopez to eight year in prison.

Lopez will most-likely be deported upon release from prison.

Lopez’s conviction does not require him to serve at least 85% of his sentence. With time-served Lopez could be released within just a couple of years.

Below is an 12-minute video by No Boundaries International that features video of Rusti Bates and excerpts from her diary.

Suspected serial killer charged with metro teen prostitutes death

7/4/2013 – An accused serial killer, currently serving a life sentence in Mississippi, has been charged in Texas with the brutal abduction, rape and murder of a Oklahoma teen who was last seen prostituting at a truck stop in Oklahoma City in 2004.

As previously reported by JohnTV, this year marks the nine year anniversary of the death 19-year-old Native American Casey Jo Pipestem.

Pipestem was allegedly picked up by trucker John Robert Williams and his girlfriend Rachel Cumberland.

The couple allegedly abducted Pipestem and at some point beat, raped and strangled her before tossing her nude body off a bridge in Grapevine, Texas in January of 2004 – 200 miles and less than 24-hours after Pipestem’s kidnapping.

Williams and Cumberland are already serving prison time for the murder of a Mississippi woman they met at a casino. Williams received a life sentence, plus 20-years, while Cumberland received a total sentence of only 20-years for manslaughter.

Casey Jo Pipestem ProstituteInvestigators believe the couple may be responsible for as many as 14-slayings of mostly female truck stop prostitutes. Many of the abductions and/or killings are believed to have taken place in Oklahoma.

Williams has been dubbed the ‘Big Rig Killer.’

Williams became a suspect in Pipestem’s death after his aunt watched an episode of America’s Most Wanted. In that episode Pipestem’s murder was highlighted and Williams’ aunt thought the circumstances matched a murder her nephew had bragged to her about.

Earlier this year Pipestem’s family expressed mounting frustration at the fact Texas prosecutors were seemingly dragging their feet in charging Williams with their loved-one’s murder.

In mid-January Pipestem’s older sister, Taffney Harjo, spoke to KWTV News Channel9 regarding what they saw as delayed justice for Casey. Later that month a candlelight vigil was held at Woodson Park in south Oklahoma City.

In June a Causes.com petition was created to encourage Texas District Attorney Joe Shannon to formally charge Williams with Pipestem’s murder.

Last week Williams was formally charged with Pipestem’s death in Tarrant County, Texas.

It is unclear if Cumberland will also be facing charges.

A trial for Williams will only occur when/if Williams is ever released from prison in Mississippi.

11-year anniversary of taped Donald Pete Arrest

7/9/2013 – OKC, OK — Yesterday marked the 11-year anniversary of the controversial and racially charged Donald Pete arrest that was video taped near downtown Oklahoma City.

On July 8, 2002 JohnTV’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates recorded the prostitution related arrests of Donald Pete and Leann Clark (see video at bottom). An arrest that resulted in Pete, a black man, receiving at least 27 baton blows from two white Oklahoma City police officers.

The incident began near the intersection of NW 10 and Western Ave. when Pete picked up Clark, who was soliciting street prostitution at the time.

The two then drove to the Olivet Baptist Church (1201 NW 10) and parked in an overflow parking lot to the north.

Bates then called police to report the suspected prostitution activity while he recorded Pete’s vehicle tag information.

Almost immediately an OCPD helicopter was hovering overhead as a patrol officer parked his marked vehicle and approached the scene on foot to avoid detection.

"I'm going to fucking shoot you right in the head!" That audio was later removed by then DA Wes Lane.

“I’m going to fucking shoot you right in the head!” That audio was later removed by then DA Wes Lane.

The first officer on the scene instructed both Clark and Pete to exit their vehicle.

Clark exited quickly while Pete appeared to be slower to comply.

The first officer then stepped towards Pete and said, “I’m going to fucking shoot you right in the head!”

Pete later claimed that the officer’s threat against his life was what caused him to peacefully resist being handcuffed moments later.

Authorities claim that Pete resisted being handcuffed only after the first officer became suspicious that Pete was attempting to conceal narcotics and the officer ordered him to open his mouth.

When Pete refused or otherwise did not comply with the officer’s orders the officer began using a combination of baton blows, mace and compliance pain maneuvers to force Pete into submission.

Despite the officer’s experience and training he was unable to subdue Pete, who was only passively resisting arrest.

A second officer arrived and both began to utilize their batons on Pete – who was seated on the ground and repeatedly asking what he had done or otherwise insisting that he was cooperating.

A bloodied Pete is drug to the ground after being handcuffed.

A bloodied Pete is drug to the ground after being handcuffed.

Eventually a bloodied and beaten Pete was handcuffed and transported to the Oklahoma County Jail.

Pete later claimed that the driver of the police transport vehicle intentionally and repeatedly applied his brakes in an abrupt manner so as to cause injury to Pete.

Bates was first approached by an out of control police officer that was yelling at Bates and asking him why he didn’t try and help the first officer.

Bates explained that he had placed his camera down and tried to help but was told to stay back. Bates also explained that when he was ordered to hand the first officer his baton he did as ordered.

A second and more controlled policeman then approached Bates and again questioned if he had tried to help the officer.

Bates was then led to a patrol car to give a statement.

While giving his statement a female officer, the highest ranking officer on scene, requested that Bates turn over his video tape.

Bates questioned this request and reminded the officer he is always allowed to make a copy and then turn his tape over within 24-48 hours.

Bates explains that this is necessary because these are often citizen arrests and that he can be held liable and must maintain his own evidence in the event he us sued.

Bates also feared that police would destroy or otherwise alter his video since it appeared to depict two popular officers possibly using excessive force.

When Bates refused to turnover his video tape at the scene he was placed under arrest as a material witness while police sought to have my camera and the videotape seized.

Bates was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car and the air conditioning was turned off and windows rolled up – outside temperatures that day were in the low 90′s.

Even though Bates was in handcuffs, he was able to reach and use his mobile phone that was in his pocket.

Bates dialed several local media outlets and they soon arrived on scene and began recording video.

Fearing negative publicity, Bates was unhandcuffed and removed from the patrol car.

Bates was then placed in telephone communication with the Oklahoma City Police Chief who promised Bates his unaltered tape would be returned by the next afternoon.

In the weeks and months that followed, the videotaped arrest of Pete was broadcast and commented on worldwide as it came on the heels of another controversial videotaped police arrest – the alleged beating and arrest of 16-year old Donovan Chavez in Inglewood, CA.

A disturbing revelation came when then Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane held a public meeting with the stated purpose to analyze the arrest video with a use of force expert from out-of-state.

However, Lane showed his unwillingness to be truthful and impartial when it was revealed that Lane had had a portion of the audio deleted from the video they showed at the public meeting.

The death threat by the first responding officer was removed, even though it can be clearly heard on the original video.

Lane later told the media that he felt the comment was not important and would only confuse the issue.

Eventually the arresting officers were cleared of any criminal activity by the DA’s office, the FBI and the civil rights division of the Department of Justice.

It was later learned that the first responding officer was administratively found to have used improper language.

Pete was originally charged with felony Possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, destruction of evidence and engaging in public lewdness.

In October of 2002, Pete pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, destruction of evidence and engaging in a lewd act. Pete was sentenced to $700 in fines plus court costs.

Clark pleaded guilty to misdemeanor engaging in an act of lewdness and was sentenced to nine-months in jail plus court fees.

Pete later filed a $7.7 million dollar civil lawsuit against the City of Oklahoma City. That suited was later dropped.

In the wake of Pete’s publicized arrest, the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to cries of racism and brutality by initiating new policies and training procedures.

The most notable change was the formation of a citizen advisory board that reviews future use of force actions by police and makes non-binding recommendations.

Clark is currently being held by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for a escape charge and false declaration of ownership to a pawn broker.

Charges filed in April JohnTV street prostitution lewdness video

7/12/2013 – OKC, OK — A local man and woman caught on video, by JohnTV, engaged in prostitution related public lewdness have been identified and formally charged in Oklahoma County.

Back in April JohnTV reported on the incident caught on camera by Video Vigilante Brian Bates in southwest Oklahoma City.

According to Bates; a young woman was witnessed prostituting on South Robinson Ave when she was picked up by an older man in a truck.

It was later learned that the woman was on her way to an appointment to begin receiving food stamps.

The two then drove into the neighborhood and parked in a utility driveway near SE 24 and S. Santa Fe Ave.

There they moved to the back of the truck and engaged in an act of lewdness.

Bates confronted the two and berated the ‘John’ before he drove away begging Bates not to contact police or his wife.

Bates posted the resulting video online to JohnTV’s YouTube Channel (VideoVigilanteOKC) where it has been viewed over 64,000 times.

Bates then turned a copy of the video, with a written statement, over to police for their investigation.

A sergeant with the OKC Vice unit investigated Bates’ claims and was able to positively identify the woman as a 20-year old Oklahoma City resident (name withheld by JohnTV).

The ‘John’ was identified as 81-year old William ‘Bill’ Vernon York.

York reportedly lives in the 2800 block of N. Harvard in Oklahoma City.

Public records show their home is in the name of William and a G. M. York (full name withheld by JohnTV).

Google searches show that Bill and his wife are or have been active members in local car clubs in the metro.

On May 30, York was formally charged in Oklahoma County Court with one misdemeanor count of ‘prostitution, offering to engage in an act of lewdness.’ (See the probable cause affidavit at the bottom of this page)

An arrest warrant was issued at that time.

(Above: Video as shot by Video Vigilante Brian Bates – click play)

Apparently York is either unaware of the charges or has elected to ignore them, as the arrest warrant against him is still active as of the publishing of this article (you can check the status of William York’s warrant at this link).

When York is arrested, or otherwise turns himself in, he must post a $500 bond and faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

Personally, if you know York you might wanna give him a heads up so he can make bail arrangements, hire a lawyer and make the arrest and booking process as painless as possible – The Oklahoma County Jail is not a fun or safe place for an 81-year-old.

On May 31, the prostitute was also formally charged in Oklahoma County with misdemeanor ‘prostitution, engaging in prostitution.’

The woman, who allegedly goes by the street names ‘Chloe’ and ‘Kitty’ was arrested two days ago on her warrant.

Additional information has come to JohnTV that ‘Chloe’ has family in the area and has given birth to at least one child who is currently in the custody of the father and that ‘Chloe’ has no contact with that child. Additionally, those who claim to know ‘Chloe’ say she has been troubled with addiction and other issues for several years and have expressed that they hope these charges will be a wakeup call for her.

As far as JohnTV can ascertain, ‘Chloe’ was not under the control of a pimp at the time of this incident.

JohnTV will continue to follow both cases.

OKC sex offender pimp sentenced to prison (but not much)

7/17/2013 – OKC, OK — An Oklahoma City registered sex offender, pimp and drug dealer has been sentenced to prison on multiple charges.

Usually JohnTV celebrates the incarceration of human traffickers, as their confinement keeps them from preying on our daughters and communities.

However, when habitual and violent predator pimps are given nothing more than a slap on the wrist by our judicial system our celebration turns to dismay.

JohnTV has reported several times on 34-year-old Adrian Damon Easlick.

Easlick has been a longtime pimp that started his Oklahoma felony resume in 2003 with his arrest for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Later that same year Easlick was charged in Oklahoma County with two counts of rape in the first degree, forcible oral sodomy, and rape in the second degree.

In 2004 Easlick was charged with another incident of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

In 2005 Easlick was again arrested and charged with possession of ecstasy and then shortly thereafter arrested again and charged with possession of cocaine.

Adrian Easlick

Adrian Damon Easlick DOC Mugshot

In 2006 Easlick’s 2003 to 2005 criminal charges were all settled with a single plea agreement where Easlick was sentenced to five years in prison and 15-years of probation upon his release. Easlick was also ordered to register as a sex offender (for whatever reason Easlick does not show up in the online Oklahoma sex offender registry).

Only four years after Easlick’s conviction and incarceration, he was released by the Department of Corrections in June of 2010.

Easlick had only been back on Oklahoma’s streets for two months after his 2010 release when he was arrested and charged with felony pandering (pimping) and possession of drugs (article).

While facing pimping and drug charges, Easlick was again arrested and charged in March of 2011 for possession of drugs in the presence of a child and driving with a revoked license.

Easlick’s pimping, human trafficking and drug dealing almost came to a permanent end in May of 2012 when he picked on the wrong street prostitute. As previously reported by JohnTV, Easlick was stabbed by the street prostitute on S. Robinson Ave. after he allegedly tried to assault her.

Easlick sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital, but claimed to police (whom the hospital called) that he’d been stabbed while at a convenience store and refused to identify who stabbed him.

Not one to ever learn his lesson, Easlick was arrested and charged in Aug. of 2012 for aiding and abetting prostitution (article).

Easlick was set to plea on his 2010 pandering charge in Sept. of 2012 (article) – word has it his attorney had secured a sweetheart deal for Easlick to only receive a year in jail.

Easlick missed his date with the Oklahoma County judge because he was in a Las Vegas jail after being arrested the day before on 11-charges that were later reduced to five; kidnapping, pandering with force, coercion with force, conspiracy to commit pandering and involuntary servitude.

When Easlick’s victim fled out of fear and could not be located, the Nevada charges were dropped.

Easlick could have been transported to Oklahoma on his numerous outstanding warrants, but Oklahoma authorities refused or otherwise neglected to place a hold on Easlick and he was set free (article).

Topping off his criminal resume, Easlick was most recently (on Valentine’s Day 2013 no-lesscharged in Oklahoma County with felony failure to comply with the sex offender registration act.

Easlick was finally arrested this past March in Florida and extradited back to Oklahoma County (article).

That brings us up to Monday’s arranged plea and sentencing of Easlick on his EIGHT separate criminal cases.

A key part of Easlick’s plea agreement was when the state agreed to drop their application to revoke his 2006 rape conviction (for the 2003 rape).

Had the revocation remained in place, Easlick would have been forced to serve the entirety of his 15-years of probation in prison.

Instead of acknowledging Easlick is a habitual criminal, sexual predator and ongoing threat to the public, Oklahoma County prosecutor Marcy Fassio and Oklahoma County Judge Jerry Bass agreed to allow Easlick to be sentenced to only nine years in prison.

Since his most serious crime is not a 85% crime, Easlick will most likely be released back onto our streets in only 4-5 years.

Sugar Daddy billboard appears and then disappears near downtown OKC

7/18/2013 – OKC, OK — A controversial ‘Sugar Daddy’ Internet dating website unveiled a new marketing push near downtown Oklahoma City yesterday – an effort that was quickly thwarted by JohnTV.

On Tuesday JohnTV’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates did a double-take while traveling along I-40 near S. Eastern when he noticed a large billboard  promoting “Hey Students, Need a Summer Job? Date a Sugar Daddy.” (click on thumbnail image upper-left)

“I was taken back by the blatantness of the ad and the fact it specifically targets ‘students,’ which could mean high school through college. So, we are talking about a company specifically trying to exploit our 16 to 20 year old daughters,” said Bates.

The billboard is a marketing ad for the website ArrangementFinders.com.

Bates, who was actually returning from documenting street prostitution along S. Robinson Ave. in south Oklahoma City turned his car around to photograph the billboard.

Bates then did online research on the dating site and came to the conclusion that not only is the site a thinly veiled cover for prostitution, but that their marketing efforts in other cities often turn x-rated.

“Today the site is promoting getting a sugar daddy. Tomorrow they’ll be promoting that young ladies selling themselves for sex is a good thing,” said Bates.

Bates is referring to racy billboard ads by the same website that read “Because the best job is a blow job.”

A follow-up ad that has appeared in other cities.

A follow-up ad that has appeared in other cities.

Bates also warns people that think sites like this are an anonymous way to make some quick cash to get beyond a financial obstacle that they may learn the hard way that bad decisions have a way of haunting you forever.

“When you sign up for these sites you’re giving these unscrupulous companies all your identifying information. They know who you are, where you live and most of all who contacts you and who you contact and agree to meet,” said Bates.

Bates fears that this information may be used against individuals in their future, when they least expect it and when they least want to be accused of engaging in prostitution.

Bates next did what he’s best known for, drawing attention to prostitution issues that most negatively impact individuals and families in Oklahoma.

Bates posted the picture on his social media sites (Twitter: JohnTVOKC / Facebook: JohnTVOKC), along with a contrasting image from a billboard just over a mile away – a billboard sponsored by Oklahoman’s Against Trafficking Humans (OATH) that sends the message its not okay to exploit our daughters.

Contrasting messages regarding the exploitation of our young people along I-35.

Contrasting messages regarding the exploitation of our young people along I-35.

Within a few hours the image was being shared by those that follow JohnTV and Bates’ efforts online.

Local media outlets also began to call JohnTV, OATH and No Boundaries International (NBI) for comment.

KWTV News Channel 9′s Lisa Monahan was the first to interview Bates and cover the story on Wednesday for the 4:30 p.m. news – live at the billboard’s location.

JohnTV Facebook fans also began calling the company that sold and placed the ad on the billboard, after Bates posted a call to action, in an effort to put pressure on them to remove the ad (the name of the company has been intentionally redacted).

Outdoor Response 03

The call to action by JohnTV and the response from the advertising company.

The outdoor advertising company posted online that they do not own the billboard, but that the billboard would be coming down.

Despite the company’s denial of ownership, their website clearly shows the billboard as an ad space they sell.

The advertising company refused to return telephone calls placed to them by local media outlets.

Fox25′s Kisha Henry interviewed Bates and Dr. Lori Basey with NBI  and then reported live beneath the billboard at 9 p.m. and again at 10 p.m.

As promised by the advertising company, the billboard did come down.

Just after 10 p.m. last night – and less than 24-hours after JohnTV and Bates called for the billboard’s removal – the last piece of the controversial ad came falling to the ground.

“I’m very thankful that Oklahomans recognize that while a company may have a legal right to publicly post a racy ad like this, that doesn’t mean our community loses its voice to object to that ad,” said Bates.

7/24/2013 – OKC, OK — Oklahoma City police arrested 19 individuals yesterday in an afternoon prostitution sting along South Robinson Ave. that targeted both ‘Johns’ and prostitutes.

Yesterday JohnTV’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates was on South Robinson Ave. catching Johns in the act when he recognized the tell-tale signs of a police sting.

Bates, not wanting to inadvertently record an undercover officer or interrupt a sting, contacted a member of Oklahoma City Vice for confirmation.

Within minutes Bates’ suspicions were confirmed and he left the area.

This morning the Oklahoma County Jail is reporting eight women and 11 men were arrested in the afternoon and evening sting.

Those arrested have been identified as;

Alleged Prostitutes

Some of those arrested in the 7/23/2013 sting.

Some of those arrested in the 7/23/2013 sting.

The age ranges of the alleged prostitutes was 24-57.

The age ranges of the alleged Johns was 23-48.

In recent months the persistent presence of street prostitutes along South Robinson Ave. has greatly diminished – making it easier for law enforcement to conduct more successful John stings.

South Robinson Ave. has been a haven for street prostitution for over 40-years, with as many as 30 women working a 10 block area at the same time.

No specific reason has been identified as to why the obvious presence of prostitutes has been reduced in recent months.

Bates attributes the improvement to a combination of temperatures above 90-degrees, police presence, and the efforts of No Boundaries International and JohnTV.

JohnTV will follow each of these cases to their conclusion.

JohnTV will continue to follow each individual case to its conclusion.

Father who pimped out autistic son given slap on the wrist in Cleveland County

7/30/2013 – Norman, OK — A Moore ‘father’ (we use the term loosely) that pimped out his six-year old autistic son to a stranger on Craigslist has pleaded guilty and been sentenced (to not nearly enough) jail time in Cleveland County Court.

JohnTV has reported on the scum bag that is Jonathan Mark Smith three times since his 2011 arrest for lewd child molestation and enabling the sexual abuse of a child (article 1, article 2, article 3).

In short, Jonathan Mark Smith, 38, was at home, bored when he decided to place an ad on Craigslist looking for homosexual sex for himself.

Because there is no shortage of deviant scumbags in Oklahoma, it wasn’t long before Smith got the reply he was looking for.

Teddy Dean Davis, 27, was apparently also at home bored, cruising Craigslist when replied to Smith’s perverted post.

As the two conversed the topic eventually got around to Smith’s 6-year old autistic son – who was also at home.

At some point Smith agreed to let Davis come over and fondle his son while he reportedly watched and fondled himself (feel free to vomit at this point).

While you may be holding out hope that this was all just online perverse fantasy between the two turds, fantasy went out the window when Davis and Smith did indeed make a conscious decision to molest their young victim.

Sources close to JohnTV claim that at some point after the molestation, Smith confided in his wife – who without hesitation called police.

On July 12, Smith and Davis were charged with felony crimes.

In April Davis pleaded guilty to a single felony charge of lewd molestation to a child and received a ridiculously lax sentence of two years in prison and eight years of probation.

On July 18 Smith entered a blind plea and was sentenced to seven-years in prison (his crimes are 85% crimes so he won’t be eligible for parole for six-years).

That’s right, in Cleveland County and under the watch of District Attorney Greg Mashburn child molesters of the worst kind on get two years in prison and the daddies who offer up their handicapped kids only get seven years (the victims, they get a life sentence).

OKC’s original ‘John TV’– March 1999 to March 2003

Article Originally Published 8/5/2013

The public shaming of prostitution offenders by city government was first initiated in Oklahoma City after the idea was presented by then City Councilwoman Francis Lowrey after she became aware of similar successful efforts in Kansas City, MO. in 1997.

In February of 1999 the Oklahoma City Council unanimously agreed to begin airing the mugshots of individuals charged in Oklahoma City/County with crimes related to prostitution public lewdness. The effort was dubbed ‘John TV.’

Initially Municipal attorney Bill West  would only agree to publicly shame individuals charged with soliciting or engaging in sex for money. Those charged with public lewdness related to homosexuality in public parks were not included – even though many public officials felt those individuals should be publicly shamed also.

“A lewd act is a lewd act, whether it’s prostitution or whether it’s homosexuals in a park,” Mayor Kirk Humphreys said. “It takes away property owners’ rights to enjoy their property, and it takes away the public’s right to enjoy their parks.

“You won’t find a whole lot of people taking their kids to certain parks in this city… because the homosexuals have taken over. And I find that every bit as offensive as prostitution on South Robinson.”

The first airing of OKC’s John TV was in March of 1999 with the publication of the identities of seven individuals.

The show immediately gained local, national and international attention from the media.

Along with the support came criticism from groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union who compared the city’s efforts to persecution depicted in the 19th century novel “The Scarlet Letter.”

John TV aired twice each Wednesday on Cox Cable public access channel 20 (CityVue).

John TV was a coordinated effort of members of the Oklahoma City police, city attorney and the city public information office.

It was estimated that the cost to tax payers to produce John TV was $457 per week.

The process for compiling the mugshots for public display were as follows;

  1. Oklahoma City police compile the names of individuals charged with prostitution-related crimes from the municipal court’s system that maintains records of citations and arrests. Charges must have been filed before the names and photographs can be broadcast. The list is then submitted to the OKC Vice unit.
  2. OKC Vice will then obtain a photograph of each individual and contact arresting officers.
  3. Arresting officers will confirm that individuals in the photographs were the people they arrested.
  4. The vice unit then will send electronic computer mail files with the photographs, names and charges to the city’s public information office.
  5. Public information workers will then transfer the computer files to the city’s video bulletin board software for broadcast on Channel 20. They also will make one last check to make sure the information on the screen matches a printout of the original files.

Each person identified on John TV had their mugshot, name, arrest date and criminal charge displayed for 20-seconds on a loop for the entirety of the 15-minute broadcast. The show could handle up to approximately 45 mugshots.

John TV was updated every two weeks with new information if available.

In the first two months John TV aired the identities of 42 people charged with prostitution-related offenses.

In June of 1999 the Oklahoman reported that John TV would be expanded to include individuals charged with all types of lewd acts, not just those involved in prostitution. City council members also requested that John TV include those charged with keeping or leasing a house for immoral purpose, public indecency or obscenity.

In January of 2000 the Oklahoman ran an article entitled, ‘John TV’ credited for drop (by Robert Medley).

In that article it was revealed that since the airing of offender mug shots that prostitution related arrests in Oklahoma City had dropped by about 25% over the same period of time the year before.

JohnTV.com’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates was also interviewed for the article.

Bates commented that he did not feel the city’s version of John TV was effective because it only aired on cable television. “It brought out more awareness of the problem at first. But not everyone has cable television. I bet most people wouldn’t even be able to tell you what channel it appears on if you ask them,” Bates was quoted as saying.

Four years after it began, the plug was officially pulled on the city run shaming effort. The last group of prostitution offenders was broadcast in early March of 2003.

“There were more females than males, and we kept seeing a lot of the same people,” said Oklahoma City spokeswoman Marsha Ingersoll.

The scrolling and repeating mug shots of disheveled streetwalkers helped would-be customers identify prostitutes, the spokeswoman said. “It was almost a promotional thing for them. It wasn’t a deterrent at all,” Ingersoll said.

Spearheading the effort to cease the public shaming was then Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys who felt John TV gave Oklahoma City a bad image.

It should be noted that the city did not conduct any research or studies to come to their conclusion that resulted in the termination of John TV.
