12/8/2013 – Guthrie, OK — JohnTV takes an inside look at the criminal charges against one pimp and one prostitute from November’s prostitution sting in Guthrie.
The Guthrie sting, dubbed Operation Dragon Slayer, resulted in the arrest of 26 individuals – including pimps, prostitutes and ‘Johns.’
Two of those arrested included alleged pimp, longtime criminal and former murder suspect Markeese Karea’shawn Phelps, 23, from Oklahoma City and his prostitute Marie Sinisterra, 24, also of Oklahoma City.
According to court records, on Nov. 6, at around 8:45 p.m. an undercover agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Human Trafficking Division, responded to an Sinisterra’s online ad in the ‘escort’ section of the Stillwater portion of Backpage.com.
Over the telephone, Sinisterra allegedly quoted a rate of $180 for an hour of “services” at the undercover officer’s Stillwater hotel room.
At around 11 p.m. a surveillance team posted outside the hotel witnessed Phelps drop-off Sinisterra in front of the hotel.
Investigators alleged that while Sinisterra was making contact with the undercover officer, Sinisterra was in constant cell phone communication with Phelps – who remained in his vehicle.
Once probable cause was established and Sinisterra was placed into custody for prostitution related crimes, the surveillance team approached Phelps and then placed him under arrest.
During a search of Phelps’ vehicle, law enforcement found marijuana and prescription narcotics.
Phelps was booked into the Payne County Jail for pandering, transporting another for the purpose of prostitution and possession of CDS.
Sinisterra was booked on a prostitution and felony computer crimes complaint.
On Nov. 18, Phelps was charged in Payne County with felony unlawful possession of CDS (subsequent offense) and unlawful possession of a credit or debit card.
On Nov. 22, Sinisterra was charged with misdemeanor prostitution.
Phelps, who was still in custody at his last court appearance (12/2) is set for preliminary hearing on Jan. 9, 2014.
