6/17/2014 (updated 6/18/2014) – OKC, OK — Its been 14-months since a local attorney, husband and father was arrested, along with six other men, yet he is the only one to still not be facing criminal charges.
JohnTV has reported on the prostitution arrest of William Lowell Nixon, 53, several times since he was taken into custody back in May of last year.

Nixon isn’t just any attorney, he’s the lowest form — Nixon is a collection attorney and partner with the firm Love, Beal & Nixon P.C. – you know, the guys who harass you when you’ve fallen on hard times and can’t repay your student loan or car payment. Reportedly it was Nixon’s own ‘hard time’ that got him arrested in the first place.
According to a probable cause affidavit (see below), Nixon responded to a prostitution ad on Backpage.com and then went to a hotel and offered $80 for sexual contact. What Nixon didn’t realize is that he’d walked right into a police sting.
Today, local NBC-affiliate KFOR News Channel 4 also posed the question – why has Nixon not yet been criminally charged?
Unfortunately, they weren’t able to get any clearer answers than JohnTV has.
According to KFOR’s report, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (human trafficking unit) turned over all seven defendant’s cases to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office at the same time and within days of the sting.
Reportedly, Nixon’s file was returned to the OBNDD for ‘extra work.’
There are two possibilities that JohnTV has heard that could be behind the reluctance or down right refusal to prosecute Nixon thus far;
1.) JohnTV has been told that Nixon claimed early on to be more than just casually involved in soliciting prostitution and that he promised investigators that he could deliver (aka, snitch out) ‘bigger fish’ in exchange for special considerations in his case – a claim that has yet to materialize.
2.) Prosecutors and/or investigators friendly to Nixon realize there is a good chance that a criminal charge and conviction for an act of moral turpitude such as this could have serious negative consequences for Nixon with the Oklahoma Bar Association (the governing body over attorneys in Oklahoma).
Regardless, as previously pointed out by JohnTV, several high profile alleged ‘Johns’ have avoided prosecution after arrest in recent years. This list of lucky ‘Johns’ includes a wealthy and well respected pediatric surgeon with OUHSC, a millionaire out of Norman, a local newspaper editor, local lawyers and more high profile, well connected individuals. Noticeably absent from the list is your average blue-collar working stiff with no deep pockets, no high profile job and no direct ties to the Oklahoma County DA’s office.
As further undeniable evidence of preferential treatment afforded to fellow lawyers, in another case, a local attorney was caught up in a prostitution sting – while other criminal defendants caught in the same sting were criminally prosecuted, the well liked and well connected attorney was allowed to make a $1,000 donation in exchange for charges to not be pursued. When the Oklahoma County District Attorney questioned JohnTV about the validity of that assertion, we provided the District Attorney with the defendant’s name and welcomed the DA’s office to clarify facts we may have gotten wrong. The DA’s office has since refused to address the topic of that attorney defendant.
A public’s faith in the justice system is built upon a foundation that justice is indeed blind.
JohnTV simple asks that Mr. Nixon not be allowed to circumvent the law simply because those with the power to hold him accountable are counting on a public with a short memory.
JohnTV will continue to highlight this case until we are either given a reasonable explanation for why Nixon cannot be charged or until Nixon is actually criminally charged.
