12/10/2013 – Stillwater, OK — Prosecutors in Stillwater have finally formally charged the executive director of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma with prostitution stemming from the highly publicized sting, dubbed ‘Operation Dragon Slayer.’
As previously reported on JohnTV, back in November Stillwater police, Payne County deputies and members of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (Human Trafficking Unit) teamed up to target online prostitution and human trafficking in the Stillwater area.
The two-day sting nabbed 26 individuals, including pimps, ‘Johns’ and prostitutes.
One of the alleged ‘Johns’ caught up in the sting was 66-year-old Lt. Col. Alan L. Bonner, 66 of Stillwater.
Bonner’s now deleted LinkedIn account listed him as the National Executive Director at the Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma out of Stillwater (see an archived version of Bonner’s LinkedIn profile below – we’re sneaky that way!)
Bonner served as the 7th Commander and Conductor of the United States Air Force Band from 1991 – 19995.
Bonner also has the distinction of being the oldest of the 26 people arrested in the sting.
Soon after his arrest, Bonner was reportedly placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of his criminal case (aka, the frat brothers and sisters are going to be paying for him to be on an extended vacation that he could drag out for up to 2-3 years).
Just today Payne County prosecutors filed formal charges against Bonner – charging him with a single misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution.
On an odd note – Not only was Bonner the last of the 26 to be charged, but, if you search OSCN.net you can find each and every defendant’s criminal charges from this sting, EXCEPT Bonner’s. You have to actually know the case number to find Bonner’s case. Now, we don’t usually fall for conspiracy theories, but we do find this very odd. Lets see if it magically fixes itself in the coming days.
According to court records, on Nov. 7, Bonner replied via telephone (which means there’s a recording that could become public record) to an escort ad placed on Backpage.com by undercover officers.
Later that same day Bonner arrived at the undercover officer’s motel room and placed $100 on a desk in exchange for an hour of sexual intercourse.
Bonner was then arrested and booked into the Payne County Jail.
Bonner is currently out of jail after posting a $1,000 bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, if convicted, Bonner faces up to a year in jail, $2,500 fine, community service and court costs.
In reality, Bonner will most likely take a plea bargain that will result in a deferred sentence (meaning he can eventually take it off his record), a fine in the range of $100-$500 plus court costs of around $400.
In case you were wondering, Bonner recently divorced his wife of 40-years.
JohnTV will continue to follow this case.
