11/18/2013 – OKC, OK — An Oklahoma City man has been charged with public lewdness related to a prostitution video captured by JohnTV in August.
Efren M. Gonzales, 49, was charged with misdemeanor ‘prostitution, engaging in an act of lewdness’ on Oct. 30.
Gonzales was taped by JohnTV.com’s own Video Vigilante Brian Bates on Aug. 17, after he picked up a known street prostitute around SW 43 and S. Robinson Ave.
Gonzales then took the woman to the parking lot of the Greystone Apartments at 4900 S. Walker Ave. – a location often utilized by S. Robinson street prostitutes and their ‘Johns.’
Once there, the two moved to the back of Gonzales’ SUV and began engaging in sexual activity.
Bates approached the white SUV, opened the door and confronted Gonzales and the woman.
Gonzales then returned to the driver’s seat and drove away.
Bates posted the resulting video to the JohnTV YouTube Channel.
Within hours a former S. Robinson street prostitute emailed JohnTV with the identity of the ‘John’ and claimed he was Gonzales.
Bates turned over a copy of the video and the identifying email to Oklahoma City Vice, who performed an investigation and requested criminal charged to be filed.
On Oct. 31 a warrant was issued for Gonzales’ arrest.
Gonzales made his first court appearance on Nov. 7 and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 5.
Gonzales was released from custody on a $500 bond.
No other criminal history could be readily located for Gonzales.
JohnTV will continue to follow this case.
