4-Day prostitution sting, ‘Trojan Horse,’ in NE Okla. results in 42 arrests and three trafficking victims identified

9/17/2013 – A multi-juridictional prostitution sting in northeast Oklahoma has resulted in the arrests of 42 individuals for soliciting, pandering and/or aiding and abetting prostitution.

Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control spokesman Mark Woodward said the four-day undercover operation, dubbed ‘Trojan Horse,’ focused on organized sex trafficking in Tulsa, Rogers, Ottowa and Delaware Counties.

During the sting it is reported that agents raided a Bixby massage parlor and also made arrests at two casinos in Ottawa County.

According to probable cause affidavits, the women involved in prostitution were charging $60 for 30-minutes and up to $700 for an overnight stay.

According to authorities the arrests breakdown as 13 for engaging in prostitution, 20 for soliciting prostitution, seven for pandering, one person for aiding and abetting prostitution and one for possession of methamphetamine.

So far, charged in Ottawa County District Court are;

  1.  Ashley Romine, 26, of Ormond Beach, Fla.
    Charged with soliciting prostitution.
  2. Tica Shaner, 35, of Pierce City, Mo.
    Charged with soliciting prostitution.
  3. Misty Dawn Nelson, 35, of Wyandotte
    Charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of marijuana.
  4. Darrel Letheal Bailey, 42, of Wyandotte
    Charged with possession of marijuana.
  5. David Wayne Hanenburg, 29, of Joplin, Mo.
    Charged with soliciting prostitution.
  6. Jamal Clifton Gibson, 22, of Fayetteville, Ark.
    Charged with pandering and transportation of a person for the purpose of prostitution.
  7. Nolan Henry Gibson, 19, of Fayetteville, Ark.
    Charged with pandering and transportation of a person for the purpose of prostitution.
  8. Pablo Guerrero-Campos, 35, of Edmond
    Charged with soliciting prostitution.
  9. Dominique Leeann Johnson, 21, of Fort Smith, Ark.
    Charged with engaging in prostitution and felony computer crimes.
  10. Brandi Michelle Burrows, 37, of Joplin, Mo.
    Charged with engaging in prostitution and felony computer crimes.
  11. William Henry Lang, 25, of Cairo, Ill.
    Charged with soliciting prostitution.

The youngest female taken into custody was only 15-years old.

Three women were identified as victims of human trafficking and were taken to a shelter.

Oklahoma currently does not have a certified shelter for victims of human trafficking – no information was given as to what type of shelter the victims were taken to or what services are being offered to them.

Reportedly none of the human trafficking victims were on any missing persons lists.

“OBN is committed to dismantling organizations involved in the seedy world of prostitution and ultimately human trafficking,” said Darrell Weaver, director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Other agencies involved in the investigation include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Homeland Security, Tulsa Police, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, Miami Police, Grove Police, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, Quapaw Tribal Marshals, Eastern Shawnee Tribal Police, Wyandotte Nation Tribal Police, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas and Newton County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri.
