7/7/2014 – OKC, OK — A second suspect has been identified and arrested in connection to a Backpage.com prostitution ad that left a wannabe ‘John’ robbed and shot – not surprising, the male suspect has been previously featured on JohnTV.
As JohnTV previously reported, Kassady Lesiter, 26, a Norman daycare teacher moonlighting as an Internet hooker, got in way over her head last month when she and two male accomplices allegedly robbed and then shot a would-be ‘John’ in his home.
Lesiter was formally charged in Cleveland County on July 1 with felony armed robbery and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
With her criminal filing came more details of the events that unfolded on June 27th.
According to court records, just after 1:15 a.m. Oklahoma City Police were dispatched to 712 SW 104th Place in regards to a robbery victim who had been shot.
When police arrived they found James Garcia with a single gunshot that passed completely through his left arm and lodged in his abdomen.
Garcia admitted to police that he had responded to a prostitution ad in the adult section of Backpage.com (see ad below) and that a woman identifying herself as ‘Aryana’ was driven to his home by at least one unknown white male. Garcia also admitted to agreeing to give the woman $200.
Garcia told police that the woman arrived around 1:00 a.m. and that he let her into his home and then locked his front door. The two proceeded to his bedroom, where Garcia got undressed.
Shortly thereafter someone began knocking on Garcia’s front door. The woman ran and opened it, letting two white males into Garcia’s residence. One of the males was reportedly brandishing a pistol and had a gold badge affixed to his waistband.
The two men began yelling at Garcia to place his hands on the wall and that they were police officers and this was a sting.
Garcia reportedly doubted the men were actual law enforcement and when he questioned them he was punched.
The men began taking Garcia’s possessions, which included cash and his cell phone.
When Garcia protested he was shot by one of the assailants.
The woman and both men fled in a dark colored pickup truck.
Garcia showed detectives the ad on Backpage.com that he had responded to (see above) and he confirmed that the woman in the ad was the same woman that showed up at his home.
Detectives released a photo of the woman to the local news media, resulting in numerous calls to police identifying the woman was Kassady Lesiter, a Norman daycare teacher.
Additional calls pinpointed Lesiter’s location at a Super 8 Motel on I-35 in Norman.
Norman police located Lesiter, who quickly admitted she was the woman featured on the news and was wanted.
Lesiter was then transported to Oklahoma City Police headquarters where she allegedly confessed to the armed robbery and identified her male accomplices.
Lesiter went on to admit that the robbery was planned the day before.
One of the men Lesiter identified as aiding in the robbery and assault is 28-year-old violent felon Christopher Adam Banschbach (also recently arrested in Texas)
JohnTV fans will recognize that name as belonging to the pimp/boyfriend of a well known OKC Internet prostitute that previously claimed she had viewed the torture and dismemberment video of local murdered teen, Carina Saunders.
However, Lesiter’s snitching out of her accomplices didn’t amount to much because detectives were already hot on Banschbach’s trail.
According to the probable cause affidavit in his felony armed robbery and assault case, detectives at victim Garcia’s residence had already been granted permission to track the GPS coordinates of the phone number used in the Backpage.com ad.
Those coordinates pinpointed the phone’s location within room 212 of the Oak Tree Motel located at 1200 S. Meridian in south Oklahoma City.
Detectives then did something we here at JohnTV were unaware was possible – they went to Facebook.com and typed the phone number used in the Backpage.com ad into the Facebook search entry field. And, what-do-you-know, it directs you to ‘Chris’ Banschbach’s Facebook profile, even though his phone number is not set to ‘public’ (see graphic below)…
Police arrived at the Oak Tree Motel and setup surveillance. Shortly thereafter they made contact with the occupants of room 212 and took Banschbach into custody on several outstanding warrants.
A female inside the motel room told detectives that Banschbach had arrived at the room with a gun and a cell phone.
Police located the gun – a .380 caliber pistol – and a cell phone that was assigned to the same phone number used in the Backpage.com ads.
Police later learned that the cell phone was a T-Mobile phone, registered to what is believed to be a fake name (Charles Smith) with the same date of birth as Banschbach.
The second male accomplice has not yet been publicly identified by police – but rest assured they know who it is.
JohnTV will continue to follow this case.
*NOTE: Though it is not revealed in the court documents JohnTV reviewed, at least one local news agency is reporting a slightly different version of events. KFOR News Channel4 is reporting that police were summoned to an area hospital after Garcia arrived to their emergency room with a gunshot wound. KFOR is also reporting that Garcia called for his roommate to come out and help him during the robbery.
